Heart of the community

* Winner is eligible to enter the AHA National Awards (Outstanding Community Service and Achievement)

A written submission is required to assist in the assessment of this category and is required by Thursday 7 December. 

This category is open to all venues (except group hotels entering as one group) working to raise professional standard within the hospitality industry by delivering training within the venue. 

Documents required for submission:

  • A written response describing the judging criteria below.
  • Supporting documents and images, where relevant.

Judges will be assessing the following points in your written submission:

  • Describe your active participation and support of community groups and activities.
  • Promotion of the hotel industry to community groups and charitable organisations.
  • The extent to which the venue’s employees participate in community service activities.
  • Evidence of profile and public relations activity achieved through community work. Funds collected for the community, including the amount raised.
  • Provide evidence of the charities or community initiatives you support. How long have you been supporting them and how?

Supporting documents

  • Evidence of funds raised.
  • Evidence of public relations activity because of your work in the community.

Important:  A concise written submission addressing all bullet points should be no more than 1,000 words in length.
